I went to An Club the other day to see two Greek bands, punk rockers ΟΥΣΤ and alternative rockers, Atoma 4.
There is a new underground Greek rock scene out there waiting for you, so I thought it would be nice having the January and February program list of An Club.
The club has been around for about 25 years, very near to Exarchia square at Solomou street and apart from the local bands, foreign bands have also played there.
Some of the foreign bands are: Marky Ramone, Niki Sudden Steve Wynn, Dead Moon, Mike Patton, Lee Scratch Perry, Zounds, Fleshtones, Lydia Lunch, Godfathers, U.K. Subs, Agnostic front, Vibrators, Vice Squad, Skyclad, Katatonia, Mayhem, Tiamat, International Noise Conspiracy, Orange Goblin, Nomads, Louis Tillet and many others.
Whilst the Punk community sit round and eagerly await the Queens Honours List (!) to see if U.K.Subs vocalist Charlie Harper has been knighted for Services to Punk Rock the man himself has continued to tour the world relentlessly. Now up to the letter “W” in the quest for an album for every letter of the alphabet, this is undoubtedly one of Sir Charlie and co.’s best efforts to date, a real bonefide Punk Rock classic. It features a great cover of The Sonics “Strychnine”, a co-write with Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen plus a dozen Subs originals – “Work In Progress” = 14 powerful, melodic and lyrically spot on Punk Rock anthems. 35 years on and still going strong. This is a classic and you should own it.
Disk 1: CREATION | TOKYO ROSE | HELL IS OTHER PEOPLE | THE AXE | RADIO UNFRIENDLY | THIS CHAOS | GURU | EIGHTEEN WHEELS | CHILDREN OF THE FLOOD | ALL BLURS INTO ONE | ROCK N ROLL WHORE | STRYCHNINE | ROBOT AGE

Brad Kokay recorded in performance at Laboratory Music #1 solo minimalist free improvisation festival, Saturday, July 10, 2010, at The Laboratory, 818 W. University Avenue, Gainesville, Florida.
Brad Kokay (of Sarasota, Florida) was one of 31 improvisers in a seven hour program. For his performance Kokay improvised a visual collage of pre-cut black and white photocopy clippings from books and magazines and affixed them to a thick three foot by four foot sheet of plywood.
Ok, I had this hidden somewhere and yesterday I found it.
Blue Note was a pub in the center of Athens where young people who listened to new wave and punk rock were hanging around, back in the early 80’s.
It’s funny cause I guess it will make at least a few people smile as the memories that this cheap catalogue will dig up.
There one could meet members of the bands Ex- Humans, Anypoforoi, Flowers Of Romance, Alive She Died, Ding An Sich, South of No North, Panx Romana and many others.
The pub changed its name after a couple of years and became Masswell (anyone who has a better memory can correct the spelling…)
And yes, I admit it: I stole the menu.
Sue me.
I took the Yeah ! poster from Hryssa Pantazi’s blog, Here Comes A Sun.
I had the pleasure to see the band playing live that night and as this world is not big enough, I found the poster.
I can’t remember the year though…

I was very surprised when I found an A.E.T.A. blog. Nice !!!!
This is where I found this poster from. So, we posted the first one and now we got the second…
Cool, cause we’re talking bout the 80′s…
