“…Lords line-up varied during the last years. Treganna left the band in 1987 and Grant Flemming took his place and in 1988 Turner was replaced by Danny Fury.
The Lords Of The New Church broke up in 1988. Stiv had hurt his back very badly in Spain by jumping off the stage and was resting at his home in France. The other members of The Lords were in London and they were offered a gig where they could get a lot of money and they asked Stiv if he could do the gig, but he didn’t say yes or no because of his back. So, the rest of the Lords guys put an ad in the newspaper as an anonymous band looking for a lead singer – of course they hadn’t told Stiv. Somehow they thought that they could be The Lords Of The New Church without The Lord!
But Stiv had a way of knowing everything and he found out about that devious little plan by his so called friends. He called the band and told them he would do the gig in England but played dumb about the ad. The band couldn’t refuse so they did the whole gig. Meanwhile, Stiv had reproduced the ad from Melody Maker and had it blown up in big letters on T-shirts. They played the set and before the encore Stiv showed the shirts to the other guys and asked them to put them on. They were totally shocked by Stiv’s discovery of their plan. Anyway, they went back to stage to do the encore and Stiv said to microphone “Hey Brian, who’s the new lead singer for The Lords Of The New Church?” ” You are Stiv, right?” answered James and all the other Lords in front of the audience. ” No. Sorry. I’m not. You’re fired. And so are you. And you. You’re all fired! Bye!” So Stiv left the stage and the band was left there standing like idiots with their T-shirts on. Stiv had prepared everything ahead of time and had a cab waiting just outside the club. That was the end of The Lords Of The New Church…”
Although it looks like 7th of August 2000 was the last time that someone updated the site, this doesn’t mean the site stopped being interesting…

The Festival has shaped up to be something of a wonderous artistic movement. Spread out over the three days, there will be a total of 63 bands/musicians, as well as paintings & artwork, art sculptures, photos & photography, theater, video art, exhibitions, documentaries, discussions, workshops, and even jugglers .
Taking on the aura of Woodstock or Glastonbury, it was announced today that festival-goers will be allowed to pitch tents and camp out.

For those of you who have had a difficult time following along due to the Hellenic (Greek) language being used for almost all the internet news on Keratea, here’s a VERY brief history and rundown of what has led up to this gathering of inhabitants from the entire country.
Keratea, founded in 700-500 BC, is located in the eastern region of Attica, Greece, and is part of the Lavreotiki municipality. During the 1960′s/70′s, Keratea was mainly an agricultural region, however, during the following decade, it was deemed a region of Athens.
Being included within the municipality of Athens brought many Athenians into the area, with new housing developments continuously cropping up through today. Eventually, a four-lane highway was constructed which bridged Keratea to about an hour’s drive from Athens. This led to many more homes being constructed and secondary “exoteriko” homes dotting the seaside community.
Kouros of Keratea
In 1893, in a vineyard located in Keratea, they found a Kouros statue, which is one of the twelve that have been found within the Mediterranean Sea area. Most of the 12 Kouros statues were found in the greater areas of Keratea, Sounio, and Lavrio.
During World War II, a second Kouros statue, “Aristodikos“, was found by farmers.
Fast-forward to the present day:
The residents of Keratea have been at odds with the Greek government regarding their decision to place a landfill, aka “a garbage dump” in the archaeological vicinity of Keratea.
This is now the fourth month in which the residents of Keratea are battling governmental forces over the construction of a landfill. In accordance with Hellenic law, ANY site in which archaeological artifacts are found CANNOT be used for any construction purposes. Any and all digging MUST stop. The countryside is covered with areas that have become “entombed” for all to see. Although the law is strictly enforced when a resident discovers an ancient artifact, for some unknown reason, a blind eye is cast when the government itself decides it wants to build something.
But this time, things are different. People are not sitting silently on the sidelines. Road barricades have been set and the townspeople are screaming for the protection of not only their homes, but also for whatever other historical remnants will be discovered as we journey through time. They want no part in a 125-acre town dump for the 4 million people of Athens. It should also be noted that in two-year’s time, this, and other dumps, will be declared illegal by the European Union, and fines will be imposed upon the nation of Greece.
Clashes between the police and the residents have escalated to illogical levels. The powers that be march onward only to be met by gatherings of townspeople crying out for the injustice and absurdity of it all. Homes have been searched, citizens have been beaten, detained, tear-gassed… Gender and age make no difference…
Recently, amid the screams of women begging for the police to let a child go, an elderly gentleman tried to make his way home. This is what unfolded and was captured on film…
And you will barely hear a word of any of this whispered on Greek TV.
So we hope, you, the citizens of Greece, will make it a point to stand in solidarity with your brothers and sisters of the Keratea region. This weekend’s festival promises to be … “exciting” … and only here can you … “Live your myth in Greece” …

There are days when I’m truly happy that this internet invention exists. Although I long for the days of yore when a trip to the record store brought me complete happiness, I must admit, the immediacy that the internet provides quickly overshadows those long-lost days. Don’t get me wrong, I still love going to the few record shops that exist, and I still feel a thrill as I finger through albums of the past. But … I also relish that I can sit in my sleeping attire, coffee by my side, and browse through whatever strikes my fancy.
And such was the case today …
Mike Pougounas of New Zero God
Our hometown boys, New Zero God, have been busy … indeed, quite busy … and it appears that they have caught the attention of several countries outside the borders. First it was Brazil, then Germany, Italy, Australia, United States, Canada, and now they’ve made their way all the way to England.
Dominion Magazine, a U.K. based publication, has released a preview of their printed magazine’s highlights. The leading story is brought to you by Cassandra, who not only writes for Dominion and Terrorizer Magazine, but also hosts her own show, Cassandra’s Castle, on Nightbreed Radio.
And naturally, you know where this is bringing us… Dominion’s leading story features an in-depth article on Cassandra’s recent conversation with Mike Pougounas of New Zero God, who has been no stranger in this blog.
As most of you who follow tribe4mian already know, Mike has led quite an active life in the world of music. He’s not only the frontman and vocalist of New Zero God, but he also formed The Flowers Of Romance back in the 80s, Greece’s great (if not THE greatest) gothic rock band, and whose tunes still stand their ground all these years later.
Pougounas is also a founding member of Nexus, Greece’s first industrial rock band, and the founder of Cyberdelia Records. As I mentioned in a previous post, after having caught New Zero God and Background Noise Suppression at their recent show at EightBall Club in Thessaloniki, I’m truly looking forward to next week’s show with Penny Dreadful joining them on stage.

New Zero God will be performing live at next weekend’s three-day festival to support the residents of Keratea.
We’ll bring you much more news on this festival in a later posting devoted exclusively to the event. It promises to be one of the most important and well-attended causes of the year and we hope you’ll include at least one of the days in your own schedule of things to do.
Going back to an earlier mention of Nightbreed Radio, Trevor Bamford, aka “The Darklord“, announced last night that they uploaded some New Zero God tracks to their “Fourth Wave” playlist. If you haven’t had the chance to check out Nightbreed Radio yet, I suggest you do so.
I’ve kept their radio up and running for hours on end since discovering them a couple of days ago and I have yet to be disappointed. From “Cassandra’s Castle” to “Fourth Wave”, and to all the shows on their roster, it’s truly been pleasurable to sit and work with this playing in the background.

A second high school student, has been shot last night in the Peristeri district of Athens.
Kostas Paplomatas, age 16, was shot 200 meters away from his school while talking with his fellow students.
The boy was shot in the hand and police initialy stated that an air pistol was used.
Later it was stated that doctors removed a 22 mm caliber shell from the boy’s hand, whose father is member of the
teachers’ union and member of the Greek communist party.
As situation is not clear yet, there is also the posibility that the shell is of a 38 mm caliber.
Police stated that there were no police officers in the area and investigations were turned to neighbors.
Kostas Paplomatas is currently recovering after the operation.
Riots in Athens continued today when protesters attacked riot police squads at 15:00.
Extensive use of tear gas made the atmosphere very dangerous.
A second group of protesters tried to set on fire the second Christmas tree in the center of Athens (the first was burned during the first days).
It was saved by riot police squads that protected it.
Same scenery was carried on in most of the central Athenian roads.
Protesters captured the tv station “Nea Kriti” last night in Chania-Crete. They asked for permision to broadcast an 18 minutes message of protest which was broadcasted in full.
