I was listening to “These Boots Are Made For Walking ” cover by the Athenian trio, Honeydive.
Its a live recording drom 1994, which thanks to the Urban Aspirines blog it found its way to my ears.
Honeydive was a Greek grunge indie band, formed in 1992 by singer/guitar player Giorgos Latimer, bassist Panos Tomaras
and drummer Panos Papastergiou.
By the same year they were the opening act for Last Drive and Deus Ex Machina as well as for
the Dead Moon, in Athens.
Due to their many gigs, they attracred a large number of fans and on February 1993 they recorded
their first 7″ single, titled “Kick Inside/Closer to Me” which was released during April of the same year.
Soon after the release, Honeydive supported the english band Ride at Rodon Club -Athens and during October
they started recording their debut LP, “Frail“.
The album received great reviews and soon the band became one of the greatest hopes in the
Greek underground scene.
In 1994 they opened again for Dead Moon and went on a string of gigs at Kefalonia island,
Thessaloniki, Patras and other Greek cities.
In December 1994, they released a 12″ EP titled “Ultraviolet“.
