Two guitars, one violin, one ‘cello, one piano, some hammond organ, a vintage Obberheim synth and a drum set.
No vocals, no plug-ins, no simulators.
I can hear the drummer Nid (I guess it’s Elyzion’s drummer) playing somewhere in the background, but the soundscapes here are perfectly described by the guitarists, Titos Moschakis and Dimitris Patsaros.
Along with bass player Stavros Maragos and keyboard player Costas Stergiou, the quintet of Misuse opened for the Canadians A Silver Mt. Zion on March 2008 and about a month later, their self-titled debut album was released.
Misuse might be the best Greek post-rock band.
They were formed in 2001 and in 2003 they supported Mogwai.
Misuse were featured on the compilations “Mad Athens Presents Pop Scene 01“, “Civil Cinder Regalia Vol. 1” and “In The Junkyard vol. 1“.
Their self-titled debut album consumes all their powerful and melodic compositions.
One after the other the songs drag the listener deep into a dark abyss that Misuse fills in with feelings.
