Lombardia is famous for the fancy speed cars industry, fashion designers and Milan F.C. The Three Blind Mice are coming from Milan and they don’t seem to care about cars and fashion at least. What they really care for is blues and rock ‘n’ roll, the way it was developed through the last two decades.
The “Vinyl ep” is a five-track ep released back in 2010, a brilliant demonstration of their talent to redefine blues the way The Birthday Party and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion did with some drops of Tindersticks when they come to ballads.
Their first complete album was out late last year and it sounds confident and ambitious about it’s place among the best of genre. The band moves comfortably towards the blue notes but they don’t stay there. Their rock ‘n’ roll is revitalized through the sieve of indie rock such as in the noisy “Knuckles” or the post-rock “Slow Motion“. For farewell, there is the vintage “Leaving on a Plane“.
This is how the blues is played in the Mediterranean. Hot and provoking!
