The Daughters of Bristol – The Leaving

coverThe Daughters of Bristol are a goth rock band founded in 2002 and based in Seattle, Washington. The group’s only main stay members are Joseph Ronin (vox, guitars, bass & programming) and Edward Nicholas (guitars, bass & programming). Aaron Brown (guitars, bass & programming) joined them in 2009.

The group has released 5 studio recordings: “Voyage” (EP – 2005), “Jones Hall” (Album – 2007), “Woman at the Side” (EP – 2009), “Holts Summit” (EP – 2010), “The Ave” (Album – 2012) and their new single, “The Leaving” is out today, just in time for the Halloween.

The Daughters of Bristol were featured on various music compilations, and their song “Dance Among The Dead” was played in the independent movie “Haunt”.

“The Leaving” comes in three different versions. The A side, the extended version and a rough acoustic version.

If you enjoyed the previous releases of the band, prepare yourselves to find them experimenting with a slightly different music style…

With its catchy hook on the keyboards, “The Leaving” is a sweet new wave diamond that could find its place next to bands such as Bell Hollow or B-Movies.

An excellent choice for lovers of new wave.

You can find it here.

Liquid Grey – Love Under Will

love under will

(by Fondas SumerSon)

Robert Steen-Anston is a multi talented musician who is involved in the Goth Rock scene since many years. He has many projects like ThornfieldsGhostfogCarnival Star while his main band is Liquid Grey. Two years after their brilliant debut album “Grey Matter”, Robert’s Liquid Grey return with a new digital download ep under the name of “Love Under Will”. This release works as an appetizer for their forthcoming second full length album which is scheduled for release in March 2014.

In this ep you can find four high class Goth n’ roll anthems. (two of them won’t be featured on the album). The title track of “love under will” ep is definitely a goth hymn made for the dancefloor with powerful vocals, great guitar riffs and outstanding rhythm section.

Goth Rock mastermind Tom O’Connell (ex-Garden of Delight, The House of Usher, Traumtanzer) is responsible for the top class mixing and mastering.

If you’re not familiar with their sound , you should have in mind that their music bears a strong resemblance to bands like J.Edlund’s Lucyfire or the latest albums of Swedish Goth Rockers Tenebre.

Last but not least , Credits should be given to the band for the artistic   of the title track.

You can order it from HERE.

Terminal Gods – Machine Beat Messiah

MBM

(by Fondas SumerSon)

Less than a year since their 7’’ “Lessons in Fire”, Terminal Gods are back with a new 12’’ vinyl ep. The band was formed in 2011 and has released a cd-ep, two 7’’ vinyls and one 12’’ vinyl (plus 7 different t-shirt designs). Considering all this, one can easily admit that Terminal Gods are currently the most productive band of the UK Goth/alternative scene.

Their new ep called “Machine Beat Messiah” includes 6 nasty and powerful songs, made for the dancefloor. Of course you can’t categorize them as a typical “Goth” act. They blend their Goth rock sound with a lot of rock, punk and garage elements and the result is absolutely fine!

The ep is opening with the Mission/Sisters like tune “Machine Beat Blues”, followed by “Persona” (it will remind you a bit of The Marionettes) which is a powerful Terminal Gods tune. Next they slow down a bit with “The Resurrection Man” and they continue with the rock-ish “Snakebite Smile” which is my favorite song on this release. Harmonica is added to the song intro, giving a southern touch on this one. Their next two songs -“The Wheels of Love” and “King Hell”- are going to become classic tracks in the future and will be placed among their all time favorite hits. Especially “King Hell” is one of their top tunes so far in terms of lyrics and music!

These youngsters are back with another great release. Don’t pass them by, they deserve a lot.
