Almost 2 years after the release of their debut album, The Shallow Graves return with a 3 track promo teaser, including songs from their new album to be released within 2015, hopefully.

Julian Aust is involved in Goth Rock music for over 10 years and I really believe that, having absorbed his Sisters of Mercy influences, is now ready to produce tunes that are powerful, catchy and quite personal in style.

In these 3 new tracks I find that The Shallow Graves have reduced the use of electronic elements and have adopted a more rock-ish and guitar oriented approach. It really took them while to come up with new songs, but I have the feeling that it was absolutely worth the wait. Let’s have a look at each of the three songs this teaser has to offer:

Light Blinds

Top dance-floor tune with a bass line that really stands out, while the guitar riffs lead the listener to days long gone. Old school Goth Rock at its best.

Dirt and Dust

A slow tempo song. One of the darkest tunes the band has ever composed. The cold-haunting drum machine easily creates a pessimistic mood. If you are thrilled by tunes like “Afterhours” or “Some kind of Stranger‘”, you are going to love this one! Perfect for one’s darkest hour.

Drawn Blades and Such

Another goth rock diamond. Great rhythm section with a brilliant refrain and I shouldn’t forget to mention the excellent lyrics.

Well that’s it for now from these brilliant goth rockers from Kassel. Judging from this promo-teaser, their new album will be one of the finest releases of the year.
