A Primitive Evolution (A.P.E.) – Becoming (October 5, Metropolis Records)

05 Sep

The Toronto-based band A Primitive Evolution (A.P.E.) will be releasing their Metropolis Records debut on October 5th with ‘Becoming‘ their third actual album.

Out of the primordial soup comes A Primitive Evolution. (A.P.E.)

Given the gift of sentience, they are here to create a constantly evolving soundtrack to our world using their brand of dark electronic metal.

They are now undergoing their next mutation with the production of their latest album Becoming. Recorded at their self-built Desolation Studios in Toronto, ON the album features collaborations with writer/producer Ian D’Sa (Billy Talent) and Audio Engineer Kenny Luong (Metric).

The band has partnered with Metropolis Records to unleash “Becoming” unto the world.

Known to be raw and visceral with soul and beauty A Primitive Evolution is best consumed live and/or at extremely loud volumes.

With featured inclusion in films such as “Chastity Bites” and “Suck” their music has also been used on the television shows “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” and the cartoon network series “Stoked.”

In 2015 the band receive the award for “Best Rock Band” from the Toronto Independent Music Awards and since then has been working tirelessly on their new album.

The band has done countless tours, showcases for prestigious festivals such as Indie Week, NXNE and Canadian Music Week and received praise from industry stalwarts Alan Cross and George Strombolopolous quickly proving not only A Primitive Evolution’s calibre but also their vast appeal, one may say that “fun” is virtually inevitable with A.P.E.

Pulling together a complex array of influences including Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Tool, The Prodigy, Ministry, Radiohead, Alice in Chains, Vivaldi, Guns n’ Roses and more, A.P.E.’s rhythm-based attack blurs the lines of rock, electronica and all aspects between.

Creation is evolution” waxes Carruthers ponderously. “That’s what I figure we’re trying to say with A Primitive Evolution. As evolved as we think we are as humans or animals, we are very much at the beginning of the evolution of mankind. We have so much to learn and yet so much has changed in the last hundred years. We have a long way to go as a species. We want our band to reflect that too, showing our raw emotions, doing it out of instinct and evolving naturally; not overthinking, just having some fun existing on this planet.”

A Primitive Evolution line up:

Omegabrett—Vocals and Guitar

Misayo—Bass and Vocals

Stu Dead—Drums
