David Bowie, 69

I don’t want to write this post.  There hasn’t even been enough time to fully mourn the passing of the last legend taken away in a heartbeat.

I am writing this with the heaviest of hearts… once again having been bitch-slapped as I heard the words whispered from across the hall… “David Bowie has died”.

Bowie - 2016-0110 RIP

Born 08 January, 1947, Bowie was taken from us just two days after the celebration of his 69th birthday, on Sunday, 10 January 2016.

I’m completely crushed.  I haven’t read any news stories yet… I’ve done nothing but sit in silence.  Opening tabs with the intention of reading, of listening, of watching a video.  But nothing will fill that deep hole that was ripped into me an hour and a half ago.  So I’ll end this post here, with a few links for you to follow through if you’d like.

Rest in Peace, dearest Sir… and thank you for the lifetime of entertainment you have provided to our souls. Here’s our two cents for the ferryman… May your journey be swift and peaceful.

… and we’ll all raise a glass in honor of you when we come out of our shellshocked awakening …

BREAKING Robin Williams dead at 63

Robin Williams

Completely gutted.  Have not been able to 100% confirm yet, but the news isn’t looking good…

Multi-talented Robin Williams died this morning.  The rumor mill is already spinning. Will post an update upon confirmation.

More to follow…

UPDATE:  7:38 PM EST

ABC News has it up… Therefore, I guess it’s confirmed…

UPDATE:  9:12 PM EST

A lovely tribute to Robin Williams by WCVB Boston.  The first of many, I am sure.

No other words or comments from me.  Truly heartbroken over tonight’s news.  May Mr. Williams rest in eternal peace.  I offer my two cents for the ferryman and ask to please make his journey swift and carefree…

R.I.P. MICHAEL DAVIS, Bass Player for MC5

American bass guitarist, singer, songwriter, and music producer Michael Davis has died of liver failure at the age of 68.

Michael Davis

Davis was best known as a member of the MC5 and Destroy All Monsters.

While serving time at the Lexington Federal Correction Institution for a narcotics violation he created abstract paintings for permanent display in the prison’s Visitor Center and administrative offices.

Several years of immersion in life in the desert southwest and world travels with various rock bands gave Davis the inspiration and desire to return to his roots as a painter, having studied art along the way at The Armory Center For The Arts in Pasadena, California, the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon, and at Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon, and Butte Community College/California State University, Chico in Chico, California.

He also co-founded the non-profit Music Is Revolution Foundation, dedicated to supporting music education programs in public schools.

Michael Davis

On Friday, February 17, 2012, Davis died at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, California, after a month-long hospitalization for liver disease.  In 2005 he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and wrote a candid personal blog which chronicled his health battles.

Whitney Houston

Once again, sad news coming in from the world of music …

Singer and actress Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48.  No further details available right now, but, as always, lots of speculation and discussions of lifestyles are being made.

Regardless of the whys, she really had a great voice and the potential for a comeback has once again been silenced.  The singer/actress had six Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, and 22 American Music Awards.

Here’s two my two cents for the Ferryman, Ms. Houston.  May you rest in peace.
